Re-Discover Your Inner Strength and Heal Past Wounds
Counselling support for anxiety, depression, bereavement, divorce and other significant life changes.
Counselling support for anxiety, depression, bereavement, divorce and other significant life changes.
Hi. I am Julie, and to reassure you, I am a qualified humanistic counsellor (BSc/Clinical Diploma), and registered with the British Association of Counsellors and Psycotherapists (BACP).
Counselling is also known as talk therapy. Some people can find it hard to share their problems and concerns with family and friends, for many reasons. Talking through your difficulties with a trained, impartial and fully present listener can raise your self-awareness, helping you to gain clarity and perspective and therefore a feeling of being more in control.
My journey into this field of work has been via training and development roles within a corporate setting, both in UK and in Europe. I have always had a passion for assisting individuals in recognising and then realising their full potential. I find that the humanistic approach aligns well with this passion: the core belief being that most people seeking therapy, through significant life events or from a difficult past, have lost their sense of self, their self-agency, their worth, and that finding that inner belief and autonomy, is the path to lasting change, growth and fulfilment.
I have experience of working with anxiety, depression, bereavement and loss, and significant life changes such as divorce, retirement, empty nest syndrome, and cancer diagnosis, but you also may not be sure about what it is you need exactly, just a feeling that something's not quite right, a need for clarity.
I work face-to-face using elements of the 3 modalities of humanistic counselling. This includes person-centred, transactional analysis and gestalt techniques. My counselling practice is about establishing a trusting relationship where we can work together in gently identifying potentially outdated patterns of behaviour or past wounds that may be holding you back from embracing a full and meaningful life. I will always try to work at your pace whilst ensuring that we are practising therapy and not just having a chat, although emotional support will always be there for you.
I work with individual adults of any age. Currently I only offer face-to-face sessions at lovely rooms in Chiswick. I can offer short term or long term work.
My fees are currently £60 per 50 minute session payable by BACS in advance of the session. I would anticipate an initial 6 week programme that we will then review to see if longer term work would be beneficial. We will then review every 4 weeks.
Please reach me at julie@jgtalktherapy.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.
I offer individual face-to-face therapy at the lovely Greenhouse Rooms in Chiswick, a safe and welcoming space. I work with adults only. I currently do not offer support to couples or children. I can offer short term and long term sessions.
During our first session we will spend some time looking at where you currently are in your life and what has led you to reach out. It will also be an opportunity for you to experience how I work and to determine if you feel comfortable to continue in our work together. We will look at a loose plan for our work together with the understanding that this could change at any time.
The counselling session will last for 50 minutes. Short term work is usually no less than 6 weeks. Longer term work is open-ended but we will review together every 4-6 weeks.
My currently therapy days are Tuesdays and Fridays but there may be some flexibility on this so feel free to contact me and we may be able to work something out.
